Blockchain: Power to the People — A Conversation with Greg Chew

The first episode of Blockchain Psychology: The Podcast, with Greg Chew, CEO of QPQ AG and creator of the Internet of Economics.

Greg has spent more than two decades building what he argues blockchain was always meant to be: open, trustless, permission-free economic infrastructure that belongs to everyone rather than to whoever worked out how to charge rent on it. The conversation covers his T-Analysis framing as an alternative to the classic trilemma, why Satoshi Nakamoto walked away, and the idea of tokenomics functioning as a tax on hopelessness.

What the conversation left open

Two threads deserve more than we gave them on the day.

The first is loyalty to systems that do not serve you. Greg described it from the builder’s side. From the behavioral side it is not irrationality and it is not ignorance. Staying is frequently the cheaper option: switching costs are immediate, concrete, and paid by you, while the benefits are delayed, uncertain, and shared. People are also markedly more sensitive to losses than to equivalent gains (Kahneman & Tversky, 1979), so a bad known system reliably outcompetes a better unknown one. Any project asking people to leave an incumbent is fighting that asymmetry, not an information deficit. Migration has to be designed as a series of small reversible steps, or it does not happen.

The second is the language problem. Greg’s point was that dense technical vocabulary is not always accidental — it can shift accountability away from whoever wrote it. The behavioral mechanism is worth naming: when something is hard to process, people do not usually stop and work harder. They defer to whoever seems to understand it. Opacity manufactures authority. That is why plain-language disclosure is a governance control and not a marketing nicety, and it is why the Behavioral Web3 Glossary translates the vocabulary back into what it actually describes.
